Memories and Traditions

Well I am participating in the Internet Cafe celebrating the holidays. Today is the first day, and we should be talking about our holiday "traditions". I'm not sure we have "set in stone" traditions. Our family has always been able to do what they wanted for the holidays. Which sounds great right?? Until now and my boys are to the age ....that, ...you guessed it they want to do their own thing. It still works...this year, because Korey and Lauren are not married yet...but next year...who knows what they will want to do. I hope that I can handle it with all of the Love and Grace that My mother in law does!! Love you very much Mary K..

Well one tradition that we do have is that Christmas Eve we try to have traditional New Mexican food. My boys request my chicken enchiladas, and we have Posole`. We also have "chichirones". So let me explain Posole` is a soup-stew, made with pork meat, red chile, and ...posole` (you would call it hominy). Now Chichirones can best be described as..."cracklins" or "pork rinds" maybe. I buy pork "fatback" and cut it into small pieces and fry them up crispy. Posole` at our house is not complete without it!!

We also get a new ornament every year. I try to buy one that is fitting for the person. This is a tradition that my mother in law started when Ronnie was a baby. So we have all of his childhood ornaments. Some years they were not able to buy ornaments so they made them. I love looking through the ornaments every year.

Then one of the other "traditions" is between my Mom and I. She gave me a gift one year in box, that I immediately recognized as being a box from my Grandma (who was no longer with us). So every year Mom and I take turns exchanging a gift in that box. By the way the box is a Schwan's Chicken nugget box...go figure!!!

Well thanks for stopping by to see my "non" traditional memories.

In Pursuit of Proverbs 31 Bible Study Part 7 - Proverbs 31 on Management

Well this has been a week of "panicking" from feeling frustrated about time management. I have not been able to go to the gym after work, due to changes at work. So I began praying about when I should go. Well the Lord started waking me up at 4:51AM! YES AM!! No I am not a morning person, but on Friday I finally got up and just went to the 5:30 class. And I didn't die!! I was amazed at how much better I felt and how when I was off work I was free to do other things I needed to do...and yet I had still worked out! Thanks Amy this study and your ways of encouraging each of us!!

Two Words

Ok These are the words I came up with, and I asked my boss and he came up with some of these. And when I ask Ronnie how he describes me....he says giving and creative. So I am curious what two words do you have to describe me???? Be nice!! Leave me a comment and I will make a new "wordle"

In Pursuit of Proverbs 31 Bible Study Part 6 - Being A Mother

Well this part of the study is very important, but I guess it didn't impact me as it would have several years ago. Our boys (sons) are 22 and 21, so our dynamics have changed. It's not that I am not needed in their lives, and they still need Ronnie. It is just changing, new....unfamiliar. I feel like we did a very good job of raising our sons.

Weekend Progress

Well my Dad and Mom got the metal roofing on this weekend. It looks really nice! I got the bathroom painted, but I don't have any "good" pictures of that. We are hoping to start on the tile floor in the bathroom this week.

FUN!!!!

Bible Study Part 5-Being a wife part 2

Well the part that got me this week is this....

1. Although we should have an overall vision for our life and marriage, each day should be focused on with the greatest intent.
Both partners in a marriage should have a common vision. Do you have the same goals, dreams, and desires for your future? How do you envision your marriage 10 years from now? Will you be serving side by side or living in two separate worlds while still under the same roof?

There have been A LOT of days lately that I feel this is where my marriage is at! Will we be just living under the same roof...in separate worlds? How do I go about "fixing" it?

Bible Study Part 5-Being a wife

Well I'm a little late in posting this part of the study. Maybe because I have really been struggling with this.
The part that I am struggling with is this...

2. Love does not need to be felt in order to exist. It is an action.

I know this but I keep wanting to "feel" it and have the "warm fuzzies" ya know. But I am trying to put this into practice.

Bible Study Part 4-Relationship with God

Well this is what I have been "thinking and chewing" on from this part of the Study.

"Read Psalm 37, the entire chapter. Before reading ask God to give you revelation of the scriptures and be sure to highlight any that stand out to you and be sure to take notes. Go ahead and read it and then come back."

Psalms 37: 4 "Delight yourself in the Lord and he will give you the desires of your heart."
So let's look at this:

de·light
–noun
1. a high degree of pleasure or enjoyment; joy; rapture: She takes great delight in her job.
2. something that gives great pleasure: The dance was a delight to see.
–verb (used with object)
3. to give great pleasure, satisfaction, or enjoyment to; please highly: The show delighted everyone.
–verb (used without object)
4. to have great pleasure; take pleasure (fol. by in or an infinitive): She delights in going for long walks in the country.

de·sire
–verb (used with object)
1. to wish or long for; crave; want.
2. to express a wish to obtain; ask for; request: The mayor desires your presence at the next meeting.
–noun
3. a longing or craving, as for something that brings satisfaction or enjoyment: a desire for fame.
4. an expressed wish; request.
5. something desired.

So my thoughts are...Do we "know" God well enough to "Delight" in Him? And My desires....Do they agree with what God "desires" for me? Something Amy said on her blog is when she met her spouse she took great interest in getting to know him. She asked questions, and put the answers in to memory. This is how we should get to "know"God as well, put His scriptures to memory, and Take note of the things He shows us and tells us.

New Pets

Well we have new pets, they came from our neighbor Mrs. Lee. Now you have to understand how big this is for me. Because I hate chickens!! Any time I have been around them in the past they have chased me!! No I am NOT Kidding!!! Anyway we are going to give them a try. Ronnie made them a wonderful condo!! They have a roost and private sleeping quarters. Although "Blackie" decided to sleep on the porch on top of the bag of cedar shavings. Of course Thunder made his presence know!!

The Autumn of Life

To everything there is a season,
a time for every purpose under heaven.
Ecclesiastes 3:1

Michigan really knows how to show off in autumn.
Our maples scream reds, golds
and oranges, not to mention the riotous mums
with their yellow and purples exploding throughout
the landscape. The black-eyed Susans squeal with
delight as pumpkins appear on porches.
Perhaps you like me are in the autumn of your
life. Spring now seems a millennium away, summer
has gone all too quickly, and suddenly like so many
fallen leaves swirling are your ankles, autumn is upon
you. The view from this season is quickly changing
like a yellow and crimson maple leaf. We can
shudder at the change or dance in the wind. Even
though my joints squeak now, I choose to pirouette
in my autumn, for winter is at the doorstep, and
my season to sit by the fire nears. So watch out
world---Patsy the swirling, twirling, joint aching
hot flashing, joy shouting, woman is on the loose!
Come join me!

So shall we "Dance in the wind" today ladies! Hope this gave you a little giggle and a new look a life!!

Bible Study Part 3-The True woman of Proverbs 31

Kind of exciting, Amy touched (a little) on what I said last week about the study. About looking at the Lord as being our husband.

In Pursuit of Proverbs 31 Bible Study Part 3 - The True Woman of Proverbs 31

Whether we go with the widely accepted belief that Bathsheba wrote the acrostic known as Proverbs 31 or whether we believe that it was written by another mother to her son, this passage of scripture is still the desire of a woman, conceived in her heart, and unbirthed to reality. The future groom this passage refers to has yet to find his bride... this particular bride.

1. The spiritual aspect of Proverbs 31 is that this woman is a description of the bride of Christ.

Let's pray:
Father, there is none like you. I am in awe at the realization of how much you love me. Thank you for the revealing your heart to me. Thank you for breaking the bondage of perfection that once held me captive. You are a loving and just God and I am so thankful for that. I ask that you continue to speak to me and reveal my own heart to me. I ask that you stir up the gifts that you have placed within me so that I may walk in them. I also ask that you show me the talents you desire for me to use to glorify your name. In Jesus' name, I pray. Amen.

All throughout the bible there are many scriptures that enforce the majority of the lines of scripture in Proverbs 31 BUT... the similar scriptures are not just for women. They are intended for the entire body of Christ. The bride of Christ.

On a practical side, these scriptures give us a look into the heart of women. I can't help but notice a theme throughout... the craving of praise from the husband. The penalty of sin in Genesis 3 was that the woman's desire would be for her husband and he would rule over her. This desire is evident in Proverbs 31. Something else that is clearly evident is this woman's relationship with her God. Her desire is to please Him.

Her desire is to please HIM. I think that if we can "get this" then it will be natural to please our earthly husbands.

For Study Purposes:

*
Find other scriptures that are similar to particular verses in Proverbs 31.
* Give an explanation as to why it is important that you don't compare yourself to other women.
* Find one scripture that gives an example of God restoring someone.
*
Questions to ponder: What are the desires of your heart? If you wrote a similar poem today what would it consist of. Share it with us

The desires of my heart....POEM?? Well let's not go there. I desire for the Lord to find confidence in me....but then maybe HE has and that is what I have been going through the last 3 years? I'll see if I can come up with something! :)

My thoughts on the Bible Study

Let's pray:
Father, you are the love of my life. The one true love that adores me even with all of my faults. I want to honor you. I want to bring glory to your name for your sake. If I have sinned, Father, I ask your forgiveness and I know that you are faithful and just to forgive me. I pray that as I read your word today that you would give me revelation intended for me to apply to my life to glorify you. I ask that you break any strongholds that may be attached to my thinking and make me new. I pray for a refreshing from your word. Open the eyes of my heart. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen.

This is the prayer from the Bible study. What a prayer!! HHmmm...think about the strongholds attached to my thinking!!! Wow what a though.

Questions to ponder: What is the one verse in Proverbs 31:11-28 that you would most like to accomplish? Who do you personally know that you would consider to be a true Proverbs 31 woman? Tell us about her

Again I go to the verse that says "her husband has full confidence in her". I desire that so much! I also want to look at it as God being my husband...does HE have full confidence in me?

More Posting later when I can re-read this study. If you would like to see the study check out In Pursuit of Proverbs 31.... by using the link on the sidebar

New Bible Study

* What do you hope to get out of this bible study?

To become the wife and Mother that God would want me to be.

* What, if anything, has prevented you from studying these scriptures in the past?

I have studied them in the past....but failed..to really get in to it.

* What have you found helpful or frustrating about living out these scriptures?

I think one of the things find frustrating is....does my Husband really have confidence in me. Or will he ever??? Should I just look to God to be my "husband", does HE have confidence in me?
